I am Peter Požar from Kočevje and from a very young age I have joy in riding horses. I had been riding from age six. When I was ten years old, my father bought me a two-year-old Arab Shah ibn Hawhi.
We grew up together and raced around Kočevje. I was interested in gallop racing. When Shah was four years old, we started going to galloping competitions. He won once and was five times achieved second place. After retiring from gallop races, we tried endurance. He achieved several good results.
Then, initial problems with coughing and breathing began. Veterinarians gave him an antibiotic, Fluimukan, and advised me that I should start wetting the hay. This softened his problem, but they came back in autumn and winter.
In this time, however, we competed in skill riding. He won several international competitions around Slovenia. He reached twenty-first places.
Three years ago, at the age of 20, Shah's situation deteriorated considerably. I wasn’t able to ride him again. Coughing is constant. I have often been afraid if he would be able to walk a few meters from the pasture to the stable. I tried helping him with various syrups, antibiotics, Fluimukan, cortisone, pumpkin. Everything just helped for a short duration. However, the situation has deteriorated steadily. I felt that he would not survive the winter, as Shah coughed every three seconds and had fifty breaths in a minute. The choice was slaughterhouse or putting him to sleep.

Shah had a considerable amount more energy each time I visited. From the lungs, litters of mucus emerged. His situation improved remarkably. After three weeks he returned to Kočevje. I continued riding there. In three months, the horse was filled with so much energy and his health condition was so good it was almost like he was reborn. No one could have guessed that in the past he was in such bad shape. It has been a year and a half from the therapy and Shah is still in an excellent condition without any problem what so ever.
